Program Coursework Two full-credit Bucknell Summer School courses are central to the Program, and both count toward your degree. PSYC/SOC 330 Seminar: Sectarian Conflict in Northern Ireland This seminar is focused on the psychological and sociological causes, characteristics, and consequences of the sectarian conflict in Northern Ireland, and is the core seminar of the Program. Seminar sessions include guest lectures from faculty at the University of Ulster and from other specialists in the field.
PSYC 231/SOC 331 Community Organizations in Northern Ireland This purpose of this independent-study course is the processing of experiences in service-learning field placements. Students carry out a project which is of some practical use to the organization and in their own learning. Placements are in non-profit organizations in and around Derry, devoted to community building in Northern Ireland, and matched as closely as possible to students' interests.
