In 2002, the Bucknell History Department
moved into the Carnegie Building from Marts Hall. They also inherited
mineral display cases from the Geology Department that are located in
the main lobby. After a year of staring at empty cases, Professor
Ann Tlusty came up with an idea to commemorate the upcoming 100-year
anniversary of the Carnegie building using those cases. The images were
collected with help from the History Department student assistants.
Because space in the cases was limited, Ann Tlusty enlisted the help
of Presidential Fellow Mindy
Harris to design and construct this web site, which includes additional
information and brings the display to the entire campus (and anyone
outside campus who is interested in our Carnegie Building).
Please Note
The choice of these twelve (originally
fifteen) white men to grace the walls of the Carnegie Building reflects
the interests of its builders in 1904. The interests of the History
Department a century later are considerably more diverse. To learn more
