Student Employment

Except for students in the Presidential Fellow program, no students are "placed" in jobs at Bucknell. All students apply directly to campus employers, who choose the applicant they feel is best qualified. No student is guaranteed campus employment.

Students seeking employment should approach any department in which they might wish to work and ask to fill out a job application.
Large campus employers include the bookstore, the library and the dining service, both the cafeteria and the Bison snack bar. The attached list provides other possibilities.
Students with a particular interest in an academic course, an extracurricular activity, or a field of study may also wish to contact professors, advisors and departmental secretaries in those areas.

When classes are in session, students should monitor the student publications What's Happening and the Bucknellian for advertised employment opportunities.
Students should regularly review the list of current job openings online. (See "Current Job Postings" in the navigation bar to the left.).
After a student has become employed on campus, there is no need to inform the Office of Financial Aid. Instead, it is necessary to complete a time sheet in the department or office in which s/he was hired and to report to the Payroll Office.

In each job on campus that a student takes, s/he must complete a separate time sheet before s/he can be paid. Students should check with their supervisors and/or departmental secretaries in order to complete this task.
Before working on campus for the first time, students must report to the Payroll Office located in Marts Hall to complete the federal W-4 and I-9 forms.
Students should take their driver's license and one of the following forms of identification with them when they report to payroll: birth certificate or social security card. If students cannot provide this type of identification, they should check with the payroll office to determine acceptable substitutes.
