Bucknell
Wilderness Experience
Many
of the items on the list may already be in your possession or can
be borrowed from family or friends. Those you do not have, you may
want to purchase for use after BuckWild. Many of these items can
be bought, at low cost, at surplus or Salvation Army stores, or
even garage sales. Great Hollow Wilderness School can supply some
equipment as needed (denoted with a star *).
Bring:
- Backpack
(either internal or external frame pack)*

Sleeping bag*

Foam or Insulate Pad to place under your sleeping bag* (Therm-a-Rest)

Water bottle*

Cup, bowl, and spoon (unbreakable)*

Flashlight with extra batteries or headlamp

Raincoat/jacket or shell

Hiking or work boots, well broken in or sneakers

Water shoes (old sneakers, aqua socks, or Tevas - no thongs or
flip flops)

IMPORTANT:
When wet, cotton loses all of its ability to insulate. So, although
jeans are ruggedly comfortable, in wet weather they won't keep you
dry and warm. Wool or fleece are the best alternatives to cotton.
Be
aware that if it rains during BuckWild you will only have the clothes
that you brought with you and that you will have to carry everything
that you bring. |
