Dan Mills

Dan Mills has been exhibiting extensively since the early 1980s. He has had solo shows at Deson-Saunders Gallery in Chicago, MoMing in Chicago; Northern Illinois University Art Museum in Chicago, Printworks Gallery in Chicago, Ben Shahn Galleries of William Paterson University, 76 Varick in New York, Sybil Larney Gallery in Chicago; University of Tennessee, and Daura Gallery at Lynchburg College (‘07).

Selected group exhibitions include: The Long March: A Walking Visual Display at Lu Xun Academy in Yan'an and Long March Space in Beijing; What War? at White Box in New York; Misleading Trails at China Art Archives and Warehouse in Beijing (traveled in the US to Universities including Vanderbilt, Wake Forest, Skidmore, North Texas); Slight of Hand at Studio 38 in Utrecht (Netherlands); and Art on the Map at the Chicago Cultural Center. Selected other venues include: Alaska State Museum; Albany Institute of History and Art (NY); Aldrich Museum of Contemporary Art (CT); Contemporary Art Museum (Baltimore); Everson Museum of Art (NY); Hartwick College (NY); Holland Tunnel Gallery Paros, (Greece); Minneapolis College of Art & Design; Munson-Williams-Proctor Institute (NY); Rochester Institute of Technology (NY); University of Illinois at Chicago; and Sun Valley Center for the Arts (ID, ’07).

His work is in collections including the John D. & Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation, JP Morgan Chase, Pope & John, Ltd., and University of Illinois.

Mills received a BFA from Rochester Institute of Technology, and MFA from Northern Illinois University. He has been director of the Samek Art Gallery since 2001.
