A
Triathlon "Adventure Race"
is being held on October 18th, 2003. Event time is 9:30 am and will
include a 20 mile mountain bike ride, a 2.2 mile canoe and a 5.25
mile run. The event is being held at the Beautiful PPL Montour Preserve
near Washingtonville (which is a 25 minute ride from Lewisburg).
Individual or team participation is available,including relay teams.
Volunteers are also needed for the event in the areas of course
help, registration, timing and children's activities. Register by
Oct. 1st and receive a free long sleeve t-shirt. Participants may
also register on site the day of the event. For more. info contact

Volunteers
are needed to help with children's
Arts and Crafts Activities for the Sunbury YMCA at the Selinsgrove
Street fair this Saturday, September
27th between the hours of 9am and 3pm. If interested please contact

PA Pets will be holding a Festival and Dog Walk
on October 5th.Help is needed for set up on Saturday October 4th
at 1 pm. Volunteers are needed during the actual event on October
5th from 10 am-4 pm, and for breaking down / clean up after 4 pm
on October 5th. Set up will consist of putting up tents, preparing
tables, putting up signs, marking areas, etc. During the event we
will need volunteers for our food stand, donated baked goods, traffic
controllers, and helpers for our photo stand, kid's stands, etc.
Tearing down will consist of cleaning up the park, taking our tents
down, packing up tables, etc. If interested please contact Deena

In
recognition of World AIDS Day and in honor of the AIDS quilt exhibit
at the Samek Art Gallery, AIDS Resource Alliance will be working
in collaboration with a variety of campus hosts for an event on
Friday afternoon, Dec. 5, 2003 to "Endure
for the Cure". This event will
be a designated period of time where individuals and groups can
work together on either individual fitness or recreation activities
and a portion of the funds earned through sponsorships will benefit
AIDS Resource Alliance the local non-profit organization that provides
case management and outreach around the issue of AIDS and HIV.

Volunteers
are needed at the
Geisinger Children's Hospital
to play games, do crafts, hold babies, do bedside and playroom activities
and just be a buddy to the patients. Volunteers would also entertain
patients in order for parents to get a break. Transportation is

Student
volunteers that have a current BU driver's license (or those willing
to get one) are needed to volunteer to
drive other students to local community service projects
on a limited number of Saturday mornings or afternoons throughout
the academic year. Time commitment is one hour or less. Contact

The Lewisburg Area Schools' Odyssey of the Mind Program
needs volunteers. More volunteers mean more
kids will be able to participate in this creative problem solving
activity. No experience needed just patience and a willingness to
help kids think outside the box. Coaches and Assistant Coaches are
needed for teams 4th through 12th grade. Time commitment of at least
a couple of hours a week for coaches or Judges which involves 2
Saturdays in the winter. If you would like to participate in special
events or serve as a resource for team that is also possible. If

The
Lewisburg Area Red Cross is in need
of assistance in the creation of "Friendship Boxes" to
be distributed to those in need in the local Lewisburg area. Each
shoebox-sized container should hold a variety of educational, health,recreational,
personal or craft items. Each box should be specific to either an
adult or child. Boxes may be decorated on the exterior with paints,
stickers, etc. All boxes should be completed and dropped off at
the Dean of Students Office, Langone Center room 211 by Friday October
