Throughout their tenure at Bucknell most students participate in volunteer and community service initiatives. Students volunteer on an individual basis or with a group of friends, join one of our community service organizations or become active through academic classes, clubs and organizations, sports team, or fraternities and sororities. Participating in community service is a great way to give back to the community, share your talents with others, and a unique perspective on the world.

“Community service is the opportunity to feel a sense of satisfaction and compassion that is absolutely unadulterated by self-driven motives. It is the greatest gift you can ever give to someone — and most importantly, yourself.”

— Christine Kim ‘05

“I participate in community service programs because I truly believe the college experience everyone talks about is more than simply learning in an academic setting. I have created and strengthened so many friendships just by working with other members of the Bucknell community. Community service is the finishing touch to what I consider my Bucknell experience — it perfectly accents what goes on inside the classroom.”

— Greg Yankee ‘05

“Participation in community service has been an important part of my involvement at Bucknell. I have found that helping the less fortunate provides eye-opening and rewarding experiences that will shape who I am forever.”

— Michelle Gezo ‘04
