Common Name:Scaglia’s Tuco-tuco
Type Locality:Argentina, Tucumán Prov., Los Cardones (26o40’S, 65o51’W) 2,500 m.
Distribution:Known only from the type locality.
Comments:Contreras (1999) concluded that this taxon is related to a primitive stem of the genus including C. opimusC. punditC. talarum. The karyotype attributed to C. knighti with a 2n=36 and FN=64 (Reig et al., 1992) are from representatives of this species.
