Common Name:White-toothed Tuco-tuco
Type Locality:Bolivia, La Paz Dept., San Andres de Machaca.
Distribution:W Bolivia and E Peru around Lake Titicaca.
Status:IUCN – Lower Risk (lc).
Comments:Osgood (1946) suggested that this taxon was distinct at the subgeneric level (Haptomys) and sequence analysis is consistant with that suggestion (Lessa and Cook, 1998). Karyotype has 2n=36 and FN=68 (Cook et al., 1990).
