Common Name:Catamarca Tuco-tuco
Type Locality:Argentina, Catamarca Prov., Otro Cerro.
Distribution:Mountains of La Rioia (W Argentina), north to Salta.
Status:IUCN – Lower Risk (lc).
Comments:Cabrera (1961) believed viperinus synonymous with knighti. Karyotype reported for this taxon (2n=36 and FN=64; Reig et al., 1992) is from specimens now recognized as C. scagliai.
