Type Locality:México, Michoacán, Nahuatzen, 8500 ft (2591 m).
Distribution:Endemic to the Cordillera Transvolcanica, México, from WC Michoacán eastwards to C Veracruz.
Status:IUCN – Lower Risk (lc).
Comments:Williams and Ramírez-Pulido's (1984) evaluation of geographic variation disclosed no basis for subspecific divisions. See Williams et al. (1985, Mammalian Species, 242, as Peromyscus alstoni).
