GENUS Chilomys

Author:Thomas, 1897.
Citation:Ann. Mag. Nat. Hist., ser. 6, 19: 500.
Type Species:Oryzomys instans Thomas, 1895.
Comments:Thomasomyini. Arranged with oryzomyines (Reig, 1984) or suggested as more closely related to thomasomyines (Musser and Carleton, 1993); molecular analyses (cytochrome b) support the latter tribal affinity, in a clade composed of (Rhipidomys (Chilomys Thomasomys)) (D’Elía et al., 2003; Smith and Patton, 1999). Aspects of morphology reported by Carleton (1973) and Voss and Linzey (1981).
