GENUS Dendrolagus

Author:Müller, 1840.
Citation:In Temminck, Verh. Nat. Gesch. Nederland Overz. Bezitt., Land-en Volkenkunde: 20, footnote [1840].
Type Species:Dendrolagus ursinus Müller, 1840 (recte Hypsiprymnus ursinus Temminck, 1836; designated by Thomas, 1888).
Comments:Groves (1982) and Flannery et al. (1995b) divided the genus into a plesiomorphic group (D. lumholtzi, D. inustus) and a derived group, among which D. dorianus and D. scottae, and perhaps D. mbaiso, are the most strongly derived. D. bennettianus occupies an isolated position in the genus.
