Interdisciplinary Environmental Courses
We are currently developing a new curriculum of team-taught interdisciplinary courses. Initially, developed courses to be offered in the 2008-09 academic year are:
Watershed Systems Science. An integrated perspective on watershed processes, including geomorphology, hydrology, geochemistry, terrestrial ecology, and aquatic biology. Professors: R. Craig Kochel (geology), Matt McTammany (biology), and Carl Kirby (geology).
Stream Restoration. This course focuses on the fluvial process and aquatic ecological considerations that should be used in stream restoration. Students will gain real-world experience by developing a restoration plan for Miller Run, a small stream on the Bucknell Campus, that is severely degraded. The hope is that this plan will be incorporated into long-term campus master plan. Professors: R. Craig Kochel (geology) and Matt McTammany (biology). Course Number: UNIV 298/BIOL 298/ENST298/GEOL298.
