In 1967, the University Guest House was the only house standing on Sixth Street between St. George and Walker Streets. All of the other buildings had been razed to provide for the construction of the New Women's Dormitory. Miss Ethel Ward served as host ess.

In 1980, Ward House continued as a guest house. The house was refurbished and Annelies Gray became the hostess. In 1985, minor renovations were completed.
