1965 Telescope
In 1965, the new Observatory was located by the stadium, but the original telescope was still in use. The telescope was mounted on an independent pier, which extended sixteen feet into the ground below the first floor of the building. The pier provided stability for the telescope so that movement in the room would not affect the use of the instrument.
