Campus View

This 1945 aerial photograph shows part of the "new campus", streaching from the Men's College Quadarangle at the top of the photo to the Vaughan Literature building at the bottom. A portion of Loomis Field is visible at the top right just behind Roberts Hall, topped by the tower (located in the top left-hand corner), with its doors facing the quadrangle. The west wing of Main College is clearlly visible to the left of Roberts Hall, but only the roof of the east wing is visible ( top right ). In front of Roberts Hall is the Carnegie Library building, with the skylight on the roof and its doors facing Seventh Street and the parking lot (note the slanted parking spaces). To the left of Roberts Hall and Main College is West College, with the clock tower.

Between East College and Vaughan Literature is a mall with flower beds and various trees and shrubs. A walk connected Seventh Street at West College with the central door on the mall side of the Literature building. The octagonal auditiorium of the building is located to the left. The two porticos faced the open space between the Literature building and Memorial Stadium.

To the right of this photograph is the remainder of the "new campus", consisting of the Engineering Building and fraternity houses.
