Common Name:Nimba Shrew
Type Locality:Guinea, Mt. Nimba, baraque de Zouguépo.
Distribution:Submontane and primary lowland forest in Sierra Leone, Guinea, Liberia, and Côte d’Ivoire; in the Tai National Park (Côte d’Ivoire) it occurs only in undisturbed primary forest (Churchfield et al., 2004).
Status:IUCN – Lower Risk (lc).
Comments:A very distinct species; not conspecific with wimmeri as previously suggested (see Hutterer, 1983a).
