Common Name:Makwassie Musk Shrew
Type Locality:South Africa, Northwest Prov., Maquassi, Klipkuil.
Distribution:Mpumalanga Prov. and Northwest Prov. (South Africa); Nyamaziwa Falls, and Matopo Hills (Zimbabwe).
Status:IUCN – Lower Risk (lc).
Comments:Includes malani; and may be related to pitmani; see Meester (1963) and Meester et al. (1986). Geometrics of the mandible distinguish this species and the similar cyanea and silacea (Taylor and Contrafatto, 1997).
