Common Name:Bale Shrew
Type Locality:Ethiopia, Bale Mtns, Harenna Forest, Katcha Camp, 2400 m.
Distribution:Bale Mtns and Mt. Albasso, Ethiopia (Yalden and Largen, 1992).
Status:IUCN – Vulnerable.
Comments:Lavrenchenko et al. (1997) described the karyotype (2n = 36, FN = 48) which is very different from that of the similar "bottegi" (now obscurior) (2n = 40, FN = 60) from Côte d’Ivoire.
