A Sundaic endemic; superficially resembles Sundamys muelleri and some species of Rattus in primitive external, cranial, and dental features, but in other specialized traits R. annandalei is unlike any species of Sundamys and may eventually be removed from Rattus (Musser and Newcomb, 1983). |
