Type Locality:Paraguay, Paraguarí Dept., Sapucaí.
Distribution:E Paraguay, SC Brazil.
Status:IUCN – Lower Risk (lc).
Comments:Provisionally retained as a species by Reig (1987), who questioned its distinction from O. rufus. Genetically well delineated from O. rufus and sister species to O. amazonicus according to phylogenetic analysis of cytochrome b data (Hoffmann et al., 2002). Distributional limits uncertain: not recorded for the Brazilian fauna by Fonseca et al. (1996) but mapped as broadly distributed in SC Brazil by Hoffmann et al. (2002).
