Type Locality:Ecuador, Galápagos Archipelago, Fernandina Isl.
Distribution:Known only from the type locality.
Status:IUCN – Vulnerable.
Comments:Name based on material recovered from fresh owl pellets; morphological recognition expanded by Dowler and Carroll (1996) and Dowler et al. (2000) based on recently collected specimens from rediscovered population and compared with sympatric examples of N. indefessus narboroughi. Believed closely related to N. darwini (see Hutterer and Hirsch, 1979).
