Common Name:White-footed Handley’s Mouse
Type Locality:Colombia, Antioquia Dept., 8 km E Medellín, Santa Elena, 9000 ft (2743 m).
Distribution:Cordillera Central, 1500-2800 m, C Colombia.
Status:IUCN – Lower Risk (lc) as Oryzomys intectus.
Comments:A species whose distinctive traits have confusingly invoked its past association with Oryzomys balneator or Melanomys (Gyldenstolpe, 1932), Nectomys (Ellerman, 1941), or the subgenus Oryzomys (Cabrera, 1961). Reallocated to Handleyomys and compared with H. fuscatus by Voss et al. (2002).
