Type Species:Simia sciurea Linnaeus, 1758.
Comments:Placed in a separate subfamily Saimirinae by Hershkovitz (1970a) and Napier (1976); according to Groves (2001c), Chrysotrichinae Cabrera, 1900, has priority. The species fall into two groups, S. boliviensis species group (boliviensis, vanzolinii) and S. sciureus species group (sciureus, ustus, oerstedti).
