From: Boston, MA Time: 1997-03-31 20:06:00 Comments: Am directing _Curse_ in a workshop production at Boston University School for the Arts. Currently in my 1st year of graduate directing. am looking for reviews of productions to see how far different people have gone in their productions toward either realism or absurdism. it seems that the absurdist productions lacked actors who could root the characters emotionally, whereas the more subtle ones focused on the family and didn't beat the violence/weirdness over the head. ie they didn't beat the audience over the head with violence/weirdness. most of the lit crit stuff written on the play is useless for someone working on a production. if anyone who's directed this has advice/thoughts i'd love to hear from you. |
