Our presentation is based on the analysis of Jakobson, R. "Russian Conjugation," Word, Vol. 4, no. 5, December, 1948). However, it has been revamped to accommodate language learning. For example, the term 'vowel' when used in the rules of combination here refers to the vowel letters of the alphabet and not to sounds. Other practical adjustments have been made so that the rules apply to forms as they are spelled in the Cyrillic alphabet.
