  1. GENERAL COURSE OBJECTIVE

    Advanced studies of Russian language (particularly, phonetics and intonation patterns) through reading, discussing and performing of Russian plays. In. Russian.

  2. DESCRIPTION OF SUBJECT MATTER

    The course will be focused on developing conversational skills in Russian through an in-depth study of selected Russian plays--from A. Pushkin's The Little Tragedies to contemporary plays by Edvard Radzinsky and Lidiya Petrushevskaya. Through reading, discussing and performing the plays, the students will have an opportunity to not only learn Russian but also to "live" it. The special emphasis will be made on pronunciation, lexicology and intonation pattern of Russian as they are represented in the plays.
