To increase advanced reading and conversation skills while reading a major piece of Russian literature. Advanced points of grammar will be introduced and reviewed.

A major novel such as Lermontov's A Hero of Our Times or a selection of short-stories plus a biography in English of the author.

Assigned readings will be discussed on a daily basis. Background lectures by the instructor will be kept to a minimum to allow a maximum of student conversation.
