  1. GENERAL COURSE OBJECTIVE

    The acquisition of grammatical points in the context of a study of the complete grammar with emphasis on phonology, morphology, and syntax. Acquaint the student with the Russian grammatical terminology, review declension and conjugation, and develop knowledge of Russian word formation.

  2. DESCRIPTION OF SUBJECT MATTER

    Review of Russian grammar with readings and discussion on contemporary life. Grammar review will cover verbal conjugations, participles, the case system, verbs of motion and prefixation, the comparison system of adjectives, and lexical derivation of all classes. The syntax of li clauses, chtoby clauses, t-k constructions, and relative clauses will be reviewed in depth.

  3. METHOD OF INSTRUCTION AND STUDY

    The development of speaking and writing skills through and understanding of grammar and conversational exercises. Weekly written reports and other homework form the basis of the course grade. The final is a paper written on a selected theme.
