  1. GENERAL COURSE OBJECTIVE

    The course is designed to acquaint students with major developments in Russian cinema from pre-revolutionary silent films to the recent cinematographic works during the period of glasnost and beyond.

    The course is designed to acquaint students with major developments in Russian cinema from pre-revolutionary silent films to the recent cinematographic works during the period of glasnost and beyond.

  3. METHOD OF INSTRUCTION AND STUDY

    Lectures with a profuse use of film clips and slides. Textbook reading. Discussions. Two short papers. Midterm and final examinations. In addition, the students will be required to watch Russian films outside the class.
