The Wyoming Path

Wyoming was an important Indian center and was inhabited by many refugee tribes seeking solstice from the Iroquois. There were nine distinct paths running into Wyoming: four from the Forks of the Susquehanna and five from the Delaware River. From Sunbury (then known as Shamokin) the Wyoming path ran up the east branch of the Susquehanna.

The pathway which ran from Shamokin to Wyoming followed the east side of the Susquehanna River through Catawissa, Mifflinville, Nescopeck, Wapwallopen, and Nanticoke.
