This photograph of the Main Building was taken from St. George Street. The Institute building is in the center with the porch. At the far left is the South Hall wing and, at the far right is Bucknell Cottage. A circular path connected the main entrance to the sidewalk next to St. George Street. Note the fence between the building and the sidewalk. In 1905, the Trustees decided that " . any graduate of the Institute in the Literary Course who completes eighteen courses of study (two years work) additional may upon recommendation of the faculty and approval of the Board receive the degree of Bachelor of Letters." Eight years later, in 1913, the Senior Year Literary Course in the Institute was " . correlated with the College in a way similar to that of the Latin Scientific Course." "...any graduate of..."
