Three boys are sitting at a table, concentrating on their studies, in a room in the East Hall of the Academy. The Academy had reached its highest enrollment in the twentieth century in 1909 when there were 108 students.. By 1915, the enrollment had fallen to thirty-three. Part of the reason for this decline was the increase in the number of students who now attended public high schools to receive preparation for college. A high school had been established in Lewisburg in 1886 and one had been opened in Mifflinburg in 1888. In 1916, nineteen students graduated from the Lewisburg High School. |
