Type Locality:"des Indes"; restricted to N India, Uttar Pradesh, Kumaun by Groves (1982b:624).
Distribution:N and C India, SW Nepal; extinct in Pakistan.
Status:CITES – Appendix I as Cervus duvaucelii; U.S. ESA – Endangered as C. duvauceli [sic]; IUCN – Critically Endangered as Cervus duvauceli ranjitsinhi, Endangered as C. d. branderi, Vulnerable as C. d. duvauceli.
