Common Name:Banded Mongoose
Type Locality:"Bengala, Persia, aliisque asiae", restricted by Ogilby (1835:101) to "Gambia". However, Thomas (1882) believed it to be in the eastern part of South Africa, [former] Cape Prov., as did Roberts (1929).
Distribution:Angola, Botswana, Burundi, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Chad, Dem. Rep. Congo, Ethiopia, Guinea-Bissau, Kenya, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Niger, Nigeria, Rwanda, Senegal, Somalia, South Africa, Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, Zimbabwe.
Status:IUCN – Lower Risk (lc).
