Type Species:Viverra zibetha Linnaeus, 1758, by subsequent designation (Sclater, 1900; Melville and Smith, 1987).
Comments:Pocock (1933a) placed civettina and megaspila in Moschothera, which was not recognized by Ellerman and Morrison-Scott (1951), Wozencraft (1989b), and Corbet and Hill (1992). Does not include Civettictis; see Kingdon (1977) and Ansell (1978); but also see Coetzee (1977b).
