SPECIES Eonycteris major
Author: | K. Andersen, 1910. | Citation: | Ann. Mag. Nat. Hist., ser. 8, 6: 625. | Common Name: | Greater Dawn Bat | Type Locality: | Malaysia, N Borneo, Sarawak, Mt. Dulit. | Distribution: | Borneo, Mentawai Isls (Indonesia). | Status: | IUCN/SSC Action Plan (1992) – Not Threatened. IUCN 2003 – Lower Risk (lc). | Comments: | Apparently does not include robusta and longicauda; see Heaney et al. (1987, 1998). Corbet and Hill (1992) suggested that the Mentawai Isls record may have been based on a large example of spelaea, but it appears that this material may actually represent an undescribed subspecies (K. Helgen, pers. comm.). |
