Common Name:Target Rat
Type Locality:Cameroon.
Distribution:Tropical evergreen forest; recorded from Togo, S Nigeria, Central African Republic, Cameroon, Gabon, Dem. Rep. Congo, and Uganda.
Status:IUCN – Lower Risk (lc).
Comments:Rosevear (1969) described the historical allocations of longicaudatus to Aethomys, Dasymys, Epimys, Mus, Rattus, and Stochomys. Morphometric analyses, which resulted in distinguishing two distinct subspecies, reported by Van der Straeten (1984).
