Common Name:Small Hocicudo
Type Locality:Perú, Puno Dept., 14 km W Yanahuaya, 2210 m; 14°19'S, 69°21'W.
Distribution:E Andean slopes in SE Peru and NW Bolivia (La Paz and Cochabamba Depts.), 610-3500.
Status:IUCN – Vulnerable
Comments:Smallest species of Oxymycterus, morphologically resembling O. hucucha but genetically closer to O. paramensis (Hoffmann et al., 2002). Bolivian records originally reported as O. paramensis (Anderson, 1997) and reidentified by Oliveira (in Salazar-Bravo et al., 2002b).
