Type Locality:Brazil, Minas Gerais State, Parque Nacional de Caparaó, Terreirao, 2400 m
Distribution:Humid montane forest and scrub, 1300-2700 m, E Minas Gerais and Espírito Santo to Rio de Janeiro, SE Brazil.
Comments:Distribution amplified and karyotype reported by Bonvicino et al. (1998b), who noted that it (2n = 52, FN = 52-53) differs from all Oxymycterus species so far examined (2n = 54, FN = 64; see Bonvicino et al., 1998b).
