Common Name:Red-cheeked Rope Squirrel
Type Locality:Equatorial Guinea, Bioko "...brought from Fernando Po".
Distribution:Ghana, Togo, Benin, Nigeria, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Rio Muni, Bioko.
Status:IUCN – Lower Risk (lc).
Comments:Waterhouse (1842[1843]) renamed this species erythrogenys, "red-cheeked" in an attempt to replace the inappropriate name leucogenys, "white-cheeked". This is an unjustified emendation.
