Common Name:Kinabalu Squirrel
Type Locality:Malaysia, Sabah, Mount Kinabalu, Borneo, 1000 ft. (305 m).
Distribution:Above 300 m elevation in Sabah and Sarawak, Malaysia.
Status:IUCN – Lower Risk (lc).
Comments:Sometimes considered a subspecies of prevostii (see Medway, 1977:86), but often sympatric with that species (Payne et al., 1985). Corbet and Hill (1992:290-91) placed prevostii erythromelas (Temminck, 1853) in this species, with schlegeli (Gray, 1867) a synonym.
