Common Name:Golden Lion Tamarin
Type Locality:Brazil, coast, Rio São João (right bank), between 22° and 23°S, see Wied-Neuwied (1826) and de Carcalho (1965).
Distribution:SE Brazil: Rio Doce (Espírito Santo) south into Rio de Janeiro and Guanabara.
Status:CITES – Appendix I; U.S. ESA and IUCN – Endangered.
