Distribution:N and E Dem. Rep. Congo.
Status:IUCN – Data Deficient as Osbornictis piscivora.
Comments:Some have placed in Osbornictis (Bininda-Edmonds et al., 1999; Van Rompaey, 1988; Wozencraft, 1993). Reviewed by Van Rompaey (1988) and Gaubert (2003) and Gaubert et al. (2002b, 2004). Hunt (2001) placed Osbornictis in a subfamily separate from Genetta. Gaubert et al. (2004) demonstrated that Osbornictis and Genetta are congeneric, in agreement with Verheyen (1962) and Stains (1983).
