(29 km) SE of Fort Klamath. | Distribution: | A narrow coastal area from NW California to Oregon and Washington (USA); a few records from SE British Columbia (Canada). | Status: | IUCN – Lower Risk (lc). | Comments: | Originally described in the monotypic genus Atophyrax Merriam; now in subgenus Otisorex. S. vagrans complex (Carraway, 1990; Demboski and Cook, 2001). Karyotype has 2n = 54, FN = 70. Reviewed by Pattie (1973, Mammalian Species No. 27). |
