Common Name:Forest Shrew
Type Locality:South Africa, Cape of Good Hope, Algoa Bay (Port Elizabeth).
Distribution:South Africa, from West and Eastern Cape across Northern Cape, KwaZulu-Natal and Free State to Mpumalanga and Gauteng Provinces; also Lesotho and Swaziland (Baxter, in litt., 2004).
Status:IUCN – Lower Risk (lc).
Comments:Revised by Meester (1958). Karyotype (2n = 42) differs from all other southern African Myosorex (Wolhuter, in Smithers, 1983). For synonyms see Heim de Balsac and Meester (1977).
