Common Name:Bare-tailed Armored Tree-rat
Type Locality:Ecuador, Mt. Pichincha, Gualea.
Distribution:Ecuador and Peru east of the Andes.
Status:IUCN – Critically Endangered.
Comments:Recognized as a distinct species by Emmons and Feer (1990:217) and placed in the genus Makalata by Emmons and Feer (1997:236). Distinction further documented by Emmons (In Press), who placed this taxon in a new genus.
