Common Name:Ethiopian Striped Mouse
Type Locality:N Ethiopia, Simien, 3300 m.
Distribution:Endemic to mountains of Ethiopia on both sides of the Rift Valley, 1900-3400 m (Rupp, 1980).
Status:IUCN – Vulnerable.
Comments:Member of a unique rodent fauna endemic to high mountains of Ethiopia. Osgood (1936) described chilaloensis as a subspecies of M. imberbis. Yalden and Largen (1992) reviewed the species as an Ethiopian endemic, which is infrequently encountered by collectors (Yalden et al., 1996).
