Type Locality:México, Sonora, Río Mayo, Camoa.
Distribution:SW Sonora and NW Sinaloa, México.
Status:IUCN – Lower Risk (lc).
Comments:Subgenus Teanopus. Type species of Teanopus, a taxon recognized as genus until reduced to a subgenus by Burt and Barkalow (1942). Karyotype interpreted as highly derived (Koop et al., 1985); highly differentiated from and cladistically basal to most species surveyed by Planz et al. (1996) using mitochondrial DNA restriction site analyses. See Jones and Genoways (1978, Mammalian Species, 108).
